External USB drives make a lot of sense. I have 3 in the house and they are used to transfer work databases, media files to the media centre, backup photos and as a time machine backup for my Mac. We also use them at work for off site backup. 5 disks, each for a different day of the week.

However which model to choose? There are ones that come with the caddy only where you have to buy a disk yourself, ones that take 3.5" hard disks and smaller ones like this one. It is incredibly simple to use. Plug it into a Windows or Apple PC and it just pops up as a new disk drive. Plug it into a Plasma TV or Blu Ray player and again it is instant storage. It is self powering from the USB cable which is included.

Seagate are a great name in hard disks. I have used them for years without issue.
